Gingerbread House Decorating Event

To benefit the Holliston Newcomers Grant Fund!

Come make a beautiful and delicious gingerbread house for a good cause. Newcomers Club (in conjunction with Mt Hollis Lodge) will supply the houses and decorating materials, and you and your family supply the creative décor and lots of fun!! New this year – add on a large gingerbread man to decorate for just $12!

Our gingerbread decorating event is less than two weeks away, and we need your help to make it a success! Please consider volunteering for a shift if you are able. If you can’t stay the whole time no problem, just make a note of it in the sign-up.

Barnyard Bash at Lil' Folk Farm Jun 11th at 4pm

Please mark your calendars for Monday afternoon, June 11th, at 4:00 pm for a Barnyard Bash at Lil' Folk Farm with your fellow Newcomers kids!  There will be an interactive petting zoo with goats, bunnies, and chickens, followed by pony rides and a light snack for $10 per child.  Please RSVP to reserve your spot.  The farm has a 15-child minimum, so make sure to RSVP, so this fun event can happen!

Come one come all! Join us for "Meet, Greet & Eat" Wednesday June 6, 7:30 pm at Jasper Hill Cafe.

Half-price burgers at Jasper Hill are a great excuse to get out and meet new and veteran members of HNC. Come have some fun and enjoy the music and the company.
We want to hang out with and get to know everyone in the club, and what better way than in the center of our town with food & drinks?

Wine and Cheese and Awards Celebration

Dear HNC Members,
 
Thank you to Erica Long for putting together a lovely Wine and Cheese and Awards Celebration! It was a wonderful night, and we appreciate all of you who came out to enjoy it. A special thanks to John Edwards, HNC member and Certified Cheese Professional, for bringing such delectable cheeses and sharing his expertise with us.
 
 
All of our grant award recipients were able to attend and shared a bit about what our fundraising will allow them to do to further their great community causes. Recipients are:
 
1) The Holliston Fire Department for personal carbon monoxide monitors to protect our first responders and the public from the dangers of this colorless and odorless gas,
2) The Holliston Public Library for discounted museum passes,
3) The Holliston Historical Society for new weaving looms to benefit ongoing educational opportunities including 18th Century Days for our third graders’ annual field trip,
4) Parks and Recreation for their Free Summer Concert Series at Goodwill Park,
5) The Senior Center to help create a new vegetable and herb garden for seniors to help them grow and eat healthier options, and
6) The Holliston Agricultural Commission for incubators to hatch chicks to provide years of educational opportunities for our residents.
 
I cannot thank our dedicated members enough, as these grants would not be possible without you! Our Club really makes a difference to the betterment of our community.

Easter Baskets

Hi Everyone,
 
We have a timeline for the Easter Baskets! I will have a list of participants and basket ideas on March 9th.



Drop off of baskets will be at my home the weekend of March 23rd - more information to come (baskets/gift cards do not get dropped off at the food pantry).
 
We are also looking for volunteers to donate:
  • Additional gift cards to Target or Fiske's so we can put together any extra baskets.
  • Extra candy, gift bags, small items to go with the 14-18 age group gift cards (examples: lip gloss, lotion, nail items, body spray, makeup bag, water bottle, pens, etc.)
How it works:

Families sign up with the Holliston Pantry Shelf and provide the child's gender, age and some ideas of what the child likes or specific interests. You let me know if you would like to participate in making a $25-$30 basket and how many baskets or gift cards you would like to donate, then I will send you the information.
 
We are also continuing our partnership with Fiske's in Holliston. You will be able to pick your basket at the store, get 20% off items and they will put your basket together! Note: Fiske's has gift certificates for ALL ages for use in Easter Baskets!
  • Ages 0-3 get a $25 gift card to either Babies-R-Us or Target 
  • Ages 4-13 get a $25-$30 Easter Basket
  • Ages 14-18 get a $25 gift card to Target or Fiske's
If you already know that you would like to participate, you can e-mail me (melissa.a.cloutier@gmail.com) the following information, and I will follow up with you once I get the list:
  • Your name and best way to contact you
  • Number of Easter Baskets you would like to donate 
  • If you prefer to donate a $25 gift card
