Message from the President
I can’t believe I am already starting my second year as president. The first year flew by. I hope you all enjoyed the 2014-2015 HNC year as much as I did. I was so blessed to have an amazing board to work and such a great membership that were so willing to give so much of themselves so we were able to give $26,671 back to the Holliston Community. I thank you all so much for all of your hard work and hope you are ready for another amazing year.
I would like to make you all aware that there are still some board positions that are pretty critical to the club that still need to be filled. Please consider helping out. Family Activities, Civic Activities, Community Outreach, Children’s Day Trips, Playgroups, Ladies Night Out, Night Out on The Town. Please email me directly if you are interested in helping with any of these committees.
We have some great activities coming up-our first event is our Meet and Greet (formally Activities Fair) on September 13 at the Butterfly Aviary located at Pinecrest Golf Club, 212 Prentice St, Holliston from 10-12pm. Come out to the butterfly aviary to see the whole life-cycle of our winged friends from caterpillar to cocoon then to butterfly. Face-painting, popcorn and crafts for the kids as well as a chance to learn about everything the Holliston Newcomers Club offers.
Please help us help our students in need with our back to school food drive, which will help benefit the children of the families that use our food pantry in town. This event will take place on September 12 at Shaw’s in Ashland 10-2pm. Please contact Tracey Geden if you are able to volunteer some of your time that day to help out.
The Book Club will be meeting on September 15 at 7:00pm; Please join them for another great read. The name of the book is Girl Underwater by Claire Kells. We would like to welcome Christel Dipippo who has joined Mirembe Reed as Co-Chair of Book Club.
The next exciting event to follow is Celebrate Holliston which will be held on September 19. We will be partaking in the field day from 10-4pm. Please check with Lee Kauffman our new 2nd VP if you are able to volunteer some of your time at our booth during field day.
September is membership renewal month-please don’t forget to renew your membership so you and your family can join us for all our great events. You can fill out the membership form at the end of the newsletter and mail it in or go to our webpage and pay using pay pal.
November 22 marks our largest fundraiser of the year, the CRAFT FAIR, from 9-3pm. Make sure you are at the Activities Fair so you can sign up for your favorite shift! It is a requirement as being a member that you volunteer 2 hours at the Craft Fair and bake 2 bake items for our bake table.
I wanted to take a minute and thank our board members that helped us be such success last year Erin Mack, Anuja Gokhale and Cassandra Roland. Thank you so much for all the you gave to the Holliston Newcomers Club.
I want to thank all of you for being an HNC Member and caring about this wonderful community we live in as much as I do. I know that together we can all make this the best HNC year yet!
Thank you so much,
