    Message from the President

    Dear Newcomers,

It is June and hard to believe it has been a year since I became President of HNC. This year went by very quickly due in large part to all of you – all of the amazing events and fundraising done and much of it so fun as well. I cannot thank you all enough!

Before signing off – The Civics committee has done a great job all year and their efforts are worth our support as we wind down the year. Please check out Relay for Life’s newsletter article on our last official HNC event of the year.

Food Pantry also continues to need our support during the summer as well so please don’t forget to donate when you can.

The Grant Night awards on Tuesday, May 13 were wonderful. The recipients had heartwarming comments to share about what they do and how much our support as an organization helps them continue to bring the most positive impact to our town through their work. From Food Pantry to the Senior Center, the Library, to the Marigold Project, supporting school programs, the arts, Police and Fire Departments, everyone was truly thankful for the grants– so cheers to ALL OF YOU for all you have done this year! Special thanks to Trystan O'Leary and Hannah Tabbara for putting the night together for us and the recipients to celebrate!

I am thrilled that it looks like we have a lot of new folks ready to pick up the mantle and take on Board positions and I know they will bring such positive and fresh energy to HNC and make it stronger and better. I ask you all to support everyone who takes on a position this year! But we cannot go on without filling President, 1st VP and Treasurer so PLEASE consider stepping up to one of these positions! We initially had filled Treasurer but someone understandably had a conflict so this position is open again. I can tell you that folks from this year will absolutely be able to talk and help you through questions on these positions and will provide reports as well. Please consider these so we can continue to move forward into 2014-15!

With that said until we fill these positions, we cannot schedule an Installation Dinner so you might receive an email with this information in the coming weeks…

And now it is not goodbye to HNC but to being President. I have loved being able to fundraise and getting more new people involved in HNC. I was so fortunate this year to be involved in so many of the fundraisers from Craft Fair onward. I am excited to keep growing and supporting our newest fundraisers – the Gingerbread House Event and Bubblemania (which Danielle Ohman led so wonderfully!), which we plan on continuing for 2014-15. And I am thrilled the W&M team is staying together for Craft Fair – I think it speaks to how well people worked together as a team. The Fair is in great hands for this coming November! I want to say a special thanks to the Executive Board – Hannah Tabbara, Mary Braun, Lee Kauffman, Danielle Ohman and Paul Haggerty. Your unwavering support, hard work and advice were and are so appreciated! As a new President with no previous Board experience, I needed help, and you always gave it to me. You stepped up when there were holes to fill and with your best feet forward.  I am truly grateful for all of you!

To all of you in HNC I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Every person who volunteered, led and/or was on a committee, baked an item, donated to the Pantry, came to an event – it is all of you who make HNC great!

This year when in doubt, I just tried to do what was right for HNC. I am proud of our new fundraisers, the hard work we all put in, the new members getting involved, and I am proudly looking forward to next year being better than this year and HNC continuing to grow and grow, fostering community spirit, friendship and helping those who impact our town so much in so many great ways!

All the best for a wonderful summer, good health and happiness to all of you and your families, and see you around town and as part of HNC, Please feel free to email me anytime if you have questions or concerns and/or I can help!

    Tracey Geden
